After the family have had their daily baths or showers. Switch off the geyser and only turn it on again two hours before it will be needed for the next family bathing.
Set your air conditioner to the minimum heat/cooling that is required to keep you at a comfortable temperature.
When working on the computer and it is doing a download, scan or anything not requiring direct input from you. Then switch off the monitor. After all, it only takes a second or two to switch it back on again.
Another way to save electricity is to consider investing in a few power saving items.
The first on the list would be to replace all your conventional light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs. These on their own will already make quite a big indent into the power bill.
You could also consider buying a power save gadget. Which helps to monitor the power supply to your home. But uses the minimum electricity that is needed.
To help you not to forget to switch off the geyser. Install a timer which can be set to switch the geyser on and off at any time intervals you are comfortable with.
You could even go one step further and install a solar power unit for a steady supply of hot water. Without having to use the geyser at all.
If you make a consented effort to apply as many of the above methods as you can. You will be amazed at by how much you are able to reduce that dreaded electricity bill.
